Acid blockers may complicate pancreatic necrosis recovery, new trial investigates

NCT ID NCT07488299

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether giving patients acid-reducing drugs (proton pump inhibitors) after an endoscopic procedure to drain pancreatic walled-off necrosis affects how many additional procedures they need. About 120 adults with this condition will be randomly assigned to receive the drug or not. The goal is to see if the drug increases the number of treatments needed and impacts complications, hospital stay, and costs.
