Nose swab before leg surgery may slash infection risk

Summary
This study looks at whether applying povidone iodine (a germ-killing solution) inside the nose before surgery can lower the chance of getting a serious infection after fixing severe leg, ankle, or foot fractures. About 2000 adults having high-energy fracture repair will receive the nasal treatment. The goal is to see if this simple step reduces infections, especially those caused by staph bacteria.
