Scar massage after childbirth: simple Self-Care for pelvic health?
NCT ID NCT05908292
First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether a larger study on self-scar massage for postpartum pelvic health is possible. Fourteen women who had a vaginal tear or episiotomy within the past year were asked to perform self-massage on their scar tissue for 6 weeks. The goal was to see if women would join, stay in, and follow the massage routine. Results will help design a future trial to see if this simple technique can ease pelvic discomfort after childbirth.
