New hope to stop dangerous bleeding after birth for women with blood disorder
NCT ID NCT04344860
Summary
This study tested whether adding a second drug (tranexamic acid) to the standard treatment (recombinant von Willebrand factor) could better prevent severe bleeding after childbirth in women with von Willebrand disease (VWD). Twenty pregnant women with VWD were randomly assigned to receive either the standard treatment alone or the standard treatment plus the additional drug. The main goal was to measure and compare blood loss during and after delivery to see which approach was safer and more effective.
