First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking postbiotics (beneficial byproducts from gut bacteria) for 4 weeks could change gut bacteria and reduce inflammation and muscle damage after intense downhill running. Fifteen physically active adults took either postbiotics or a placebo, then switched after a break. The goal was to see if postbiotics help athletes recover faster and perform better.
