First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested whether continuously monitoring oxygen levels in the blood (ScvO2) during major abdominal surgery helps doctors give fluids more precisely, reducing complications. It included 220 adults over 50 undergoing planned, lengthy abdominal surgery. The goal was to see if this approach lowers the number and severity of post-operative problems compared to standard care.
