ICU discharge screening may forecast mental and physical struggles

NCT ID NCT05690438

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether a quick screening when patients leave the intensive care unit (ICU) can predict if they will have psychological issues (like depression or anxiety) or new physical disabilities three months later. Researchers followed 773 adults who stayed in the ICU for at least 12 hours. They also examined how pain, resilience, and frailty affect recovery. The goal is to identify at-risk patients early so they can get the right support.
