New study offers a helping hand after a devastating eye disease diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07292987

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding early nurse and psychologist support after a retinitis pigmentosa (RP) diagnosis can improve patient well-being. RP is a rare, progressive eye disease, and the diagnosis can be very upsetting. Eighty newly diagnosed adults will be split into two groups: one gets standard care, the other gets extra emotional support. The goal is to see if this support boosts satisfaction and reduces anxiety and depression.
