First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new handheld device that measures a natural chemical called protoporphyrin IX in the skin. This chemical is important for photodynamic therapy, a light-based treatment for certain skin conditions. Researchers measured the chemical levels in 219 adults at different body spots and looked at how factors like age, skin type, and temperature affect those levels. The goal was to learn how to customize light therapy for each person.
