Summary

This study tested a new handheld device that connects to a smartphone to measure a natural chemical called protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) in the skin. Researchers measured PpIX levels in 219 adults at different body spots to see how age, skin type, and body temperature affect those levels. The goal was to learn more about natural PpIX variations to potentially improve future light-based skin treatments.
