New scope procedure tested for Hard-to-Swallow condition

NCT ID NCT07287787

Summary

This study aims to see if a minimally invasive throat procedure called POEM works equally well for people with a swallowing disorder called achalasia, whether it's their first treatment or if they've had a prior dilation treatment that didn't last. Researchers will compare two groups of 32 adult patients to check how well symptoms are relieved and how safe the procedure is. They will track patients' symptoms and any complications for six months after the procedure.
