Could a single podcast episode boost body confidence?
NCT ID NCT07113678
First seen Aug 18, 2026 · Last updated Aug 19, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether listening to a body confidence podcast episode, with or without a companion journal, can improve how women feel about their appearance. Around 1,800 UK women aged 29-44 who listen to podcasts will be randomly assigned to hear the body confidence episode, the same episode with a journal, or a control podcast. Researchers will measure changes in appearance esteem, mood, and body satisfaction shortly after listening and again one week later.

- A podcast episode on body confidence, with or without a supplementary journal of exercises
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to improve body confidence and reduce appearance-related distress in women.
- What could go wrong
- The intervention is brief and effects may not last beyond a week. Results may not apply to women who don't listen to podcasts or are outside the UK.
