ER ultrasound study aims to sharpen diagnosis of chest and belly pain
NCT ID NCT06827730
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether using a portable ultrasound machine (PoCUS) at the bedside helps emergency doctors better diagnose chest or abdominal pain. About 406 adults with pain lasting less than 72 hours will take part. Doctors will record their diagnosis plan before and after using ultrasound, and a panel will judge which plan was better based on the final diagnosis. The goal is to see if ultrasound improves the diagnostic approach, not just accuracy.
