New shot aims to stop ear infection bacteria in kids

NCT ID NCT07216430

Summary

This study is testing whether a new vaccine (wSp) can prevent pneumococcal bacteria from living in children's noses, which could help reduce ear and respiratory infections. Researchers will compare 320 healthy children who get either the real vaccine or a saltwater placebo shot at 7 and 9 months old. The study will track bacteria levels through nasal swabs and monitor for infections until children are 2 years old.
