Bubble breathing and storytelling ease Pre-Surgery jitters in kids and parents

NCT ID NCT05540041

First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tested two fun, non-drug methods to reduce anxiety in children (ages 5-12) and their parents before elective surgery. One method used bubble breathing play, and the other used a tell-show-do approach with play dough and kaleidoscopes. Researchers measured anxiety levels before and after the play sessions to see if these simple distractions helped everyone feel calmer.
