New tool aims to personalize Life-Saving transfusions for fragile newborns
NCT ID NCT06043050
Summary
This study aimed to create a better decision-making tool for doctors treating premature babies with very low platelet counts. Researchers analyzed data from over 1,000 babies to predict their risk of serious bleeding or death, both with and without receiving a platelet transfusion. The goal is to help doctors personalize treatment by considering each baby's unique condition, not just a simple blood count, to balance the benefits and risks of transfusion.
