Heart attack prevention showdown: plaque imaging vs. blood flow tests

NCT ID NCT07324720

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to decide which heart blockages need stenting in high-risk patients. One method uses imaging to look at plaque buildup and vulnerability, while the other uses blood flow tests to find blockages that limit blood supply. About 1,944 adults with moderate-to-severe coronary artery disease will be randomly assigned to one of these strategies. The goal is to see which approach better prevents heart attacks, death, or the need for repeat procedures.
