Summary
This study looks at whether the weight of the placenta, and its size relative to the baby's birth weight, can help predict low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in newborns during the first 24 hours after birth. The study will include about 98 infants born at 35 weeks or later to mothers with gestational diabetes. Researchers will measure the infants' blood glucose levels at several time points after birth and compare these to placental measurements to see if there is a link.
