New 3D ultrasound may offer better way to measure thyroid nodule shrinkage

NCT ID NCT07178080

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether a new 3D ultrasound technology (PIUR) is more accurate and consistent than standard 2D ultrasound for measuring thyroid nodule volume after a procedure called ablation. About 75 adults who are having thyroid nodule ablation will get both types of ultrasound at several follow-up visits over a year. The goal is to see if the 3D method gives more reliable measurements of how much the nodule shrinks.
