Spray-On chemo tested for tough abdominal cancers

NCT ID NCT05285358

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 10, 2026

Summary

This early-stage study is testing the safety of a new method to deliver chemotherapy directly into the abdomen for patients with advanced bile duct or gallbladder cancer that has spread there. The method, called PIPAC, uses a special device to spray chemotherapy as a fine mist during a minimally invasive surgery, aiming to reach more cancer cells while potentially reducing side effects. Researchers will combine this new delivery method with standard chemotherapy drugs to see if the overall treatment is more tolerable.
