Exercise program aims to fight 'Chemo Brain' in Long-Term survivors
NCT ID NCT06925529
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 6-month supervised exercise program can improve blood flow to the brain and thinking skills in women who had breast cancer 5-10 years ago. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the exercise program or usual care. The goal is to see if exercise can reduce the risk of heart and brain problems that often follow cancer treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Exercise training program (Cardio-Oncology Rehabilitation and Exercise Programme)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that a structured exercise program helps protect brain function and reduce cognitive decline in breast cancer survivors.
What could go wrong
This is a small early-stage trial with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to all survivors. The exercise program requires commitment and may not be feasible for everyone.
