One-and-Done heart fix may slash stroke risk and bleeding

NCT ID NCT06212674

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether doing two heart procedures at once—fixing faulty electrical signals and closing a small heart pouch—can prevent future strokes better than standard treatments in people who recently had a stroke due to atrial fibrillation. About 240 participants will be randomly assigned to the combined procedure, the pouch closure alone, or blood thinners. The goal is to see if the combined approach is as good at preventing strokes and causes less serious bleeding over time.
