First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares Pilates to walking in 34 sedentary adults aged 18-59 who sit for over 7 hours daily. Participants will do supervised 1-hour sessions to see if Pilates improves core muscle thickness, strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and posture. The goal is to find a sustainable exercise option for people with inactive lifestyles.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that Pilates is an effective way to improve core strength and fitness in people who sit a lot.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 34 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not yet recruiting, and the benefits may not last after the program ends.
