First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a 20-week program combining Pilates with mentally engaging tasks can improve balance, trunk strength, and thinking skills in healthy adults aged 60 and older. Participants will do two 60-minute sessions per week. The goal is to see if this low-cost, easy-to-follow exercise can reduce the risk of falls and help seniors stay independent.

- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost exercise program that helps older adults stay steady on their feet and think more clearly, reducing falls.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 67 participants, and it is not yet known if the benefits will be large enough to matter in daily life. The results may not apply to older adults with health problems.
