First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested whether a single session of light therapy (photobiomodulation) applied to the cheek right after wisdom tooth removal could reduce pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness. 70 adults with impacted lower wisdom teeth took part. The results showed that the light therapy lowered pain and improved quality of life on the second day after surgery, but it did not help with swelling or jaw stiffness.
