Study finds best way to pay for pharmacy HIV prevention

NCT ID NCT05842122

Summary

This study tested different payment models for getting HIV prevention medications (PrEP and PEP) at private pharmacies in Kenya. Researchers wanted to see whether having clients pay a small fee, having the program cover the cost, or adding counseling support would help more people start and continue using these preventive drugs compared to just referring people to clinics. The trial involved 60 pharmacies and nearly 5,800 participants across Kenya.
