Can a Pharmacist's help stop opioid overdoses after jail?

NCT ID NCT05776823

Summary

This study aims to prevent opioid overdoses by testing if support from a pharmacist is more effective than a counselor for people with opioid addiction who are leaving jail. Participants receive training on how to use the overdose-reversal drug Narcan and counseling to help them get addiction treatment after their release. The goal is to see if this pharmacist-led approach helps more people start and stay in treatment, which could reduce overdose risks.
