Last-Resort virus therapy fights untreatable infection

NCT ID NCT07461337

Summary

This is a single-patient trial testing a new type of treatment called bacteriophage therapy for a severe, antibiotic-resistant hip joint infection. The patient has tried and failed all standard surgeries and antibiotics. Doctors will inject special viruses that target bacteria directly into the joint and give them through an IV, aiming to completely clear the infection and prevent it from coming back.
