Forever chemicals may weaken vaccine protection, small study suggests
NCT ID NCT06588530
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether exposure to PFAS chemicals (often called 'forever chemicals') can weaken the immune response to the tetanus and diphtheria booster vaccine. Twenty adults from a community with known PFAS exposure in their drinking water took part. Researchers measured their antibody levels before and 30 days after vaccination to see if higher PFAS levels led to lower protection.
