New heart ablation study aims to stop persistent AF in its tracks
NCT ID NCT07590661
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding extra ablation to the left atrial posterior wall, guided by voltage mapping, helps people with persistent atrial fibrillation stay in normal rhythm. About 350 adults with persistent AF will be randomly assigned to different ablation strategies using pulsed field ablation. The main goal is to see if the extra ablation improves success rates at 12 months without causing more side effects.
