New scan could tell doctors if cancer treatment will work

NCT ID NCT03564197

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of PET scan could predict which patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) would respond well to immunotherapy drugs like nivolumab. Eighty patients received the scan before starting treatment to see if it could accurately forecast who would have long-term benefits. The goal was to gather knowledge to help doctors choose the right treatment for each patient, potentially avoiding ineffective therapies.
