New PET scan could catch deadly lung disease years earlier
NCT ID NCT05452889
First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests a new type of PET scan that uses a special tracer to see if it can detect early signs of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious lung blood vessel disease. PAH is often diagnosed late, leading to worse outcomes. The study will involve 71 adults with or at risk for PAH, as well as healthy controls, to see if the scan can spot disease-related changes in the lungs and heart.
