New scan method could personalize treatment for Tough-to-Treat abdominal cancers
NCT ID NCT06144853
Summary
This study tested whether a special type of scan (FDG-PET/CT) could be used to help select patients and monitor their response to a targeted chemotherapy treatment for advanced abdominal cancer that has spread to the abdominal lining. The pilot study involved 16 patients receiving a treatment called PIPAC, which delivers chemotherapy as a pressurized aerosol directly into the abdomen. Researchers performed repeated scans to see if changes in the cancer could be detected, aiming to find a better, non-invasive way to track how well the treatment is working.
