Can a scan predict a lifetime of leg pain after a clot?

NCT ID NCT03195777

Summary

This study aimed to see if a special type of PET/CT scan could predict which patients with a deep vein blood clot (DVT) would later develop a painful, long-term leg condition called post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Researchers scanned 51 patients shortly after their DVT diagnosis and then followed them for up to two years to see who developed PTS. The goal was to create a better way to identify high-risk patients early, so future treatments could be targeted to them.
