Summary

This large study tested whether adding magnesium or nimodipine to standard treatment helps people survive pesticide poisoning. Researchers enrolled 1,728 adults who intentionally poisoned themselves with organophosphate or carbamate pesticides. The trial compared standard care alone against standard care plus one of these additional medications to see which approach saved more lives.
