Breakthrough stroke study tests custom blood thinners to stop second attacks
NCT ID NCT06853535
Summary
This large study is testing whether customizing blood-thinner therapy based on how a patient's platelets respond can better prevent second strokes. It will enroll over 5,000 adults who recently had a minor stroke or warning sign. For patients whose bodies don't respond well to the standard drug clopidogrel, the trial will test if switching to a different drug, ticagrelor, is more effective and safe.
