Can a personal coach help you ditch pain pills after surgery?
NCT ID NCT05821699
Summary
This study is testing whether working with a personal pain coach after sports injury surgery helps people manage their pain better. The coaches teach mindfulness and other non-drug techniques, coordinate care, and provide education on opioid safety. Researchers will compare 150 patients who either work with a coach in-person, via telehealth, or just receive standard written instructions to see which approach leads to better pain control, less opioid use, and faster recovery over three months.
