First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a person's genetic information to pick their blood thinner after getting a heart stent can reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and death. About 4,000 adults with stable angina or acute coronary syndrome who had a new-generation stent placed were included. Researchers compared standard care with a strategy where patients with certain gene variants got a stronger drug (ticagrelor) and those without got clopidogrel.
