MRI-Guided brain zaps tested for stubborn depression

NCT ID NCT02863380

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether using MRI brain scans to personalize the target for a non-invasive brain stimulation treatment (rTMS) could make it more effective for people with depression that hasn't responded to medication. Researchers compared this personalized approach to a standard stimulation method and another type of brain stimulation (tDCS) in 27 participants. The main goal was to see if the personalized treatment could correct the specific brain activity patterns linked to the participant's depression.
