Heart rhythm breakthrough? computer model guides better AFib treatment

NCT ID NCT04101539

Summary

This study tested whether adding a personalized, computer-guided ablation technique to the standard procedure could better control a persistent heart rhythm disorder called atrial fibrillation (AFib). Researchers used a special heart scan and computer modeling to find and target specific problem areas in each patient's heart during the ablation. They compared the new combined approach against the standard procedure alone in 67 patients to see which was more effective at keeping the irregular heartbeat from returning.
