New mapping tech aims to improve heart rhythm treatment

NCT ID NCT07358611

First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This pilot study tests a personalized approach to treat atrial fibrillation (AF), a common heart rhythm problem. Instead of the standard procedure, doctors will use a special noninvasive mapping system to identify and target the exact areas causing the abnormal rhythm in each patient. The study will enroll 30 adults with persistent AF and an enlarged left atrium who have not had prior ablation. Researchers will compare how well this personalized method stops AF during the procedure and prevents it from coming back over the following year, compared to historical results from the standard approach.
