Watchful waiting: new study tracks fibromatosis without immediate treatment

NCT ID NCT01801176

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study followed 100 adults with peripheral primitive fibromatosis, a rare non-cancerous tumor, to see how long the disease stays stable without treatment. Participants were monitored with regular check-ups and MRIs, and only received treatment if the tumor grew. The goal was to find factors that predict whether the disease will progress, helping doctors decide when to start therapy.
