New burn treatment study aims to save eyesight and reduce scarring

NCT ID NCT06362226

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests two different treatments to prevent scarring and speed up healing after burns around the eyes. Ten adults with second-degree or milder periorbital burns will receive either a medication injection under the skin plus an antibiotic ointment, or the ointment alone. Researchers will compare healing time, infection rates, pain, and quality of life to see which approach works better.
