Amino acid drink may slash fracture complications in major trial
NCT ID NCT07155447
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking an oral supplement of conditionally essential amino acids (CEAA) for 12 months after lower leg fracture surgery can reduce serious complications like infection, bone nonunion, and muscle loss. Researchers will compare the supplement to a placebo in 1,000 adults aged 18-55 with leg fractures. The goal is to find a low-cost, low-risk way to improve recovery and reduce the need for additional surgeries or amputations.
