First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a deep dental cleaning (called nonsurgical periodontal therapy) can lower inflammation and improve quality of life in 20 adults who have both rheumatoid arthritis and gum disease. Researchers measured changes in blood markers, bacteria in the mouth, and arthritis activity. The goal was to see if treating gum disease could also help control arthritis symptoms.
