Summary
This study looked at 51 people who had surgery to remove plaque from their arteries. Researchers checked whether certain mouth bacteria were also present in the artery plaque and measured mitochondrial DNA copies as a sign of cell stress. The goal was to better understand how gum disease might affect heart health.
