NCT ID NCT02526511

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a special type of MRI, called perfusion MRI, can help doctors find and diagnose kidney tumors more accurately. 75 people with kidney cancer or suspected kidney tumors took part. The goal was to see if this imaging method could predict tumor type and how well a patient might respond to treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a non-invasive MRI method to better diagnose kidney tumors and monitor treatment response without needing contrast dyes.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply to all patients. The technique is still experimental and not yet proven to improve outcomes.
