First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested a new way to control pain after shoulder, ankle, or bunion surgery without using opioid drugs. Instead of medication, a tiny wire placed near a nerve delivers a mild electric pulse to block pain. 250 adults took part, and the goal was to see if this method reduces pain and the need for opioids during the first week after surgery.
