First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a small dose of dexmedetomidine to a standard nerve block (PENG block) can provide longer-lasting pain relief after hip surgery in adults aged 65 and older. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard block or the block with the added medication. The goal is to reduce pain, the need for opioid painkillers, and complications like confusion or nausea, helping seniors get back on their feet sooner.
