Computer models aim to help pelvic sarcoma patients walk better after surgery
NCT ID NCT05054335
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study creates personalized computer models of walking to help doctors plan surgery and rehabilitation for people with pelvic sarcomas. Researchers will use motion capture and X-ray imaging to build these models. The goal is to predict the best surgical approach and custom implant design to maximize each patient's walking function after surgery. The study involves 130 adults who have had or will have internal hemipelvectomy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better surgical plans and custom implants that improve walking function after pelvic sarcoma surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study, not a treatment trial. The models may not accurately predict outcomes for all patients.
