Summary

This study tested whether adding peer support and digital tools to basic health education helps college students manage their weight and improve their mood. 216 full-time students aged 18-25 with a BMI of 24 or higher were randomly assigned to one of three 6-month programs: basic health talks and emails, those plus peer mentor meetings and a chat group, or those plus a custom app with lessons, live Q&A, and self-tracking. Researchers measured weight, BMI, and depression, anxiety, and life satisfaction scores to see which approach worked best.
